Learning Review – Thursday
26 November & Friday 27 November 2015
The Learning Review will take on a new focus this year
linked to the development of a core set of competencies for all our students. The
Winston competencies are a range of skills that we believe will enable your son
or daughter to become a more effective learner at school, will help them in the
world of work and give them the life skills to be successful as an adult. The Winston
competencies are as follows:
- Resilience
- Creativity
- Independence
- Communication
- Critical Analysis
- Collaboration
- Organisation
- Enquiry
The Learning Review meeting will focus on which of these
competencies each student possesses as a strength and which ones they could develop.
Over the course of the next two weeks the students will work with their tutor
to complete the Learning Review booklet,
The booklet will enable the students to identify their strengths linked to the
competencies, but also recognise the skills where they need to make an
improvement.
We would like parents to actively contribute to the
discussion at the Learning Review meeting. A parent’s sheet outlining the competencies is available here for you to review the key aspects of each competency,
which we hope will enable you to embark on a fruitful skills discussion with
your son or daughter at home.
Parents View Survey
We always welcome the views of
parents and carers regarding the educational experience your son or daughter
receives at The Winston Churchill School. A new parent/carer questionnaire has
been created this term to provide you with the opportunity to feedback to us
your views about the school and how we might further improve the quality of
education being delivered. If you haven't already done so and you would like to contribute, please log into
frog and click on the Parent View survey button to submit your views.
