National Citizen Service
(NCS) is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for students in years 11 and 12. NCS
is a government-funded programme which helps young people build skills for work
and life and is also an opportunity for them to meet new people and connect
with their local community. Through a three part programme of activities taking
place during summer holidays or autumn half term, NCS participants take on new
challenges including outdoor activities, skills training from industry
professionals and leading social action campaigns in their local community.
For Year 11 students:
The programme is
recognised by UCAS and can strengthen university, college and job applications.
Nine out of ten participants believe NCS has given them the chance to develop
skills that will be useful in the future.
In your
area, NCS is delivered by The Challenge which is the country’s largest provider
of NCS and since 2009, over 300,000 young people have taken part in NCS.
